Time For Kids,
Inc. (TFK), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt charitable organization,
incorporated in 1994. It provides support for research-based early intervention and prevention programs and services such as those funded by the Early Mental Health Initiative (EMHI), a grant-funded program that
provides services to at-risk children in kindergarten, first, second, and third
grades in California public schools. Nine volunteers serve on the TFK Board.
Each serves a renewable one-year
term.
TFK provides support in the following
ways:
- Sponsors an annual statewide training conference for EMHI staff.
- Disseminates information about research-based early intervention and prevention programs
via the Time For Kids website.
- Awards grants to locally
funded school sites annually. In 2011, $21,148 in grants was awarded.
- Provides and sells merchandise at annual training conference (T-shirts, sweat shirts, mugs,
pencils, etc.) with proceeds going toward Time For Kids grants to locally funded schools.
- Provides educational information to legislators, the governor, and other interested persons regarding research-based early intervention programs for young children and the importance of these kinds of programs for school success.
- Maintains connections between continuing program staff across the state, with the philosophy that we make a greater difference when we all support each other.
